BJP’s sweep of Gujarat municipal polls shows its grip on the state is unshakeable. AAP got its foot in the door in Modi-Shah’s state, but has a long way to go. Congress’ decimation indicates it has no stomach for a fight, even in a state it did well in 2017.

Gujarat is the new power centre of Indian cricket. Not just because of Motera stadium

Like for much else, Gujarat is the new power centre of Indian cricket. Not just because of Jay Shah or the pink ball Test at the world’s new biggest cricket stadium in Motera. Bumrah, Pujara, Jadeja, Pandya brothers and Axar, Indian talent’s core, come from Gujarat. Cricket’s democratisation is good.

Nepal SC reinstating parliament restores constitutional propriety, but not stability

Nepal Supreme Court ruling to reinstate parliament’s lower house is welcome. It restores constitutional propriety. 1. Recall the tenacity with which Ahmed Patel fought to retain his Rajya Sabha seat. Ageing, but a lion. Without that hunger for runs and wickets ( to cover two Edits in one submission ) the Congress will not be winning many matches.

  2. The honourable Supreme Court of Nepal has lived up to the highest standards of constitutional separation of powers. Of all executive and legislative acts being subject to judicial review, on the touchstone of constitutionality and public interest. In many ways, a more consequential decision than the abrogation of Article 370 being struck down or the CA Act being held unconstitutional because it introduces a religious test for citizenship in a secular country.

  3. Isn’t emergence of cricketers from one state or region more of happenstance rather than a trend. Earlier, it was Mumbai, then Delhi followed by Karnataka and now as your say Gujarat. So can we say, cricket has waned in Mumbai, Delhi or Karnataka; while a base sports culture is necessary, the fact that several of them some from a region is more coincidence rather a powerhouse shift
