Bihar government has slashed school festival holidays by 12 days this year, including the Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Teej, Guru Nanak Jayanti and shortened the Durga Puja break too. The BJP is calling it “appeasement”. But it is time states take another look and rationalise the bloated and unproductive holiday calendar.
