US President Donald Trump’s India visit wasn’t expected to produce major deals but it wouldn’t still be wrong to call it a success for its diplomatic effusiveness and messaging. Trump said all the right things, avoided wrong ones and uncharacteristically stuck to script. That’s an achievement for Indian diplomacy too.
Delhi riots a blot on Amit Shah who fanned flames during polls but failed to avert fallout
The death of 10 people in Delhi’s communal riots is 10 too many. This points to the abject failure of Delhi Police, if not conscious neglect. It’s also a blot on Home Minister Amit Shah, who fanned the flames during Delhi elections, and has now failed to avert its fallout.
Delhi riot is a blot on the those who cannot protest peacefully against a legal Law that was passed after due process. If the person organizing the protest cannot do it peacefully, they need to call it off. The media here is guilty of fanning the flames over here and look what has happened. A policeman stoned to death, thousands injured, so many killed. The media killed these innocent people who died needlessly. The democratic right to protest cannot be stopped by anybody, including the Home Minister. If protesters cannot be responsible and non violent, they need to stop protesting and imposing their will on others.
President Trump has been the perfect guest. Beyond a point, it is not really necessary for a richer, more powerful friend to offer excessively detailed advice. You gentlemen are wise folk, know what is keeping you back from joining the First World. Work on it, we are ready to stand with you, all the way, for your rise is good for us as well. We now present a check for the smallest serving of fries.
