Maldivian President Muizzu’s ruling alliance victory in the polls will ease his government’s ability to get bills passed in Parliament, which the opposition previously controlled. Now that he has full control, New Delhi can only hope he stops sacrificing years of good ties with India at the altar of rhetoric.

Modi’s choice of a polarising pitch surprises. Where is his governance of 10 years?

‘From Muslim League to Mughal rule to infiltrators with many children’—PM Modi’s polarising attack on Congress is disappointingly gratuitous. In the past, he raised kabristan vs samshaan and Muslim clothing. After a decade in power, it’s surprising that BJP wants to distract from its governance pitch and the sabka-saath-sabka-vikas proposition.
