MPs post ‘good morning’ messages on NaMo App group created for sharing key policy info. PM Modi had expressed his anguish over his party MPs not responding to his messages on key policy decisions.
New Delhi: ‘Suprabhat’, ‘good morning to all’ and ‘happy birthday’ are what most BJP MPs are posting on the Namo App group created by PM Modi to share information on important policy decisions.
There is a messaging service on the Namo App, which works like WhatsApp.
The PM had last week expressed his anguish over his party MPs not connecting with him on the Namo App.
A week later, the application is now flooded with ‘good morning’ messages from its members, ThePrint has found.
For instance, “Subh prabhat apka din mangalmay ho,” wishes Hari Manjhi, MP Gaya.
Kirit Solanki, MP from Ahmedabad West wished, “Good morning to all friends.”
MP Udit Raj posted a picture of meeting with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
Ramdas Tadas posted clippings of the Lokmat daily.
MP Jagdambika Pal also wished everyone good morning.
Vishnu Dayal Ram wrote, ‘Suprabhat Pradhanmantri ji avam sabhi saathi Sansadgan.’
There are others who wished BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi a “happy birthday”.
The Namo App groups have two administrators, including PM Modi himself.
Named as Lok Sabha MPs and Rajya Sabha MPs, the members of these groups have suddenly become active after drawing flak from the PM.
The groups have been formed on the instructions of Modi. He wants his party MPs to know more about the projects and policies of the government and to use this information to reach out to the common man.
The Lok Sabha MPs’ group with 285 members has seen much activity since the PM complained about MPs not responding to the messages on the app.
The PM had in a parliamentary party meeting regretted that only five or six members respond to the messages posted on the App. He urged all MPs to access the app regularly.
“What the PM meant was that MPs should access Namo App and read about the welfare programmes and send the information to their voters,” said a source.
“When PM Modi posts information on an important policy decision, the members should respond to it so that he knows that the message has reached them. However, many did not understand the PM fully and started sending only birthday messages,” the source added.
