Roz aate hai ish umeed mein ki aaj jeetenge, Kal jeetenge, Parso jeetenge par roz haarte hai”, this was one of the common memes which was shared among Indian fans when India failed in its 9th consecutive attempt to win an ICC trophy in recently concluded test championship final against Australia held in oval in June 2023.  However , Rohit Sharma must be thanking Om Raut and Manoj Muntashir and entire team of Adipursh for taking away attention from them , otherwise demand of Rohit Sharma captaincy , Rahul Dravid coaching , bashing of IPL would have started and continue for weeks , but if we look closely , there is an uncanny similarity between adipursh and team India’s performance , both are equipped with huge amount of funds and resources , great team and entire nation was supporting them in their endeavours but what was the end result , performance which was not meeting even basic expectation. It is widely said that cricket and cinema unite people irrespective of their race, colour, caste, sex, and ideology and this what happened in both these cases, whether it is so call right wing people or left-wing people, both were equally critically on their performance.

Cricket in India is a passion that transcends boundaries, with an ardent fan base that fervently supports the national team. However, despite the team’s consistent success in bilateral series and dominating performances in other formats, the Indian cricket team has faced a significant drought when it comes to winning ICC trophies since their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

Since the historic victory in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, the Indian cricket team has come agonizingly close to lifting ICC trophies on multiple occasions. In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, India reached the semi-finals but fell short against a determined Australian team. The 2016 ICC World T20 saw India finish as semi-finalists, while the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy ended with a heart-breaking loss in the final against arch-rivals Pakistan. In ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019, India once again reached the semi-finals but were defeated by New Zealand in a thrilling encounter. In 2021, they failed to win initial ICC test championship against New Zealand and were knocked out from group stages in ICC T20 world cup. In 2022, they were defeated by the England team in semi-finals and now this recent drubbing received from Australia in ICC test championship final 2023.

One of the key reasons for India’s inability to secure ICC trophies since 2013 has been a lack of consistency in crucial moments. While the Indian cricket team has undoubtedly possessed the talent and skills required to succeed, they have occasionally faltered under pressure during pivotal matches. Instances of batting collapses, inconsistent bowling performances, or missed opportunities in the field have cost India dearly in crucial knockout encounters. The ability to maintain composure and deliver under high-pressure situations is an area that requires improvement.

The Indian cricket team has often relied heavily on a few key players, both in batting and bowling, to deliver match-winning performances. While these players have displayed exceptional skills, there have been instances when their failures or injuries have significantly impacted the team’s chances of success. A more balanced and collective effort from the entire squad is essential to ensure consistent performances throughout tournaments. Building depth in the batting and bowling departments and nurturing young talents will help reduce the over-reliance on a select few.

Adapting to foreign conditions has been a challenge for the Indian cricket team, particularly in ICC tournaments held outside the subcontinent. Varied pitches, different weather conditions, and unfamiliar grounds present unique challenges that require meticulous planning and preparation. While India has performed exceptionally well at home, replicating the same level of success on foreign soil has proved to be more difficult. The team’s ability to adapt to diverse playing conditions and devise effective strategies accordingly is crucial for future ICC trophy campaigns.

The Indian cricket team’s inability to secure ICC trophies since 2013 has been a source of disappointment for fans and players alike. While close calls and unfortunate circumstances have played a part, there is a need for introspection and strategic planning to address the challenges that hinder their quest for glory. Consistency in key moments, reducing reliance on individual brilliance, and improving adaptability to foreign conditions are areas that require attention. With a strong pool of talent and passionate fan support, the Indian cricket team possesses the potential to rise above these obstacles and once again claim ICC trophy victories in the future because as it is widely said “ Umeed pe duniya kayam hai
