New Delhi: A new agreement has been signed between the US and UK to see liaisons officers placed in each country’s defense innovation hubs as part of a strategy to ‘innovate across the Atlantic,’ a White House press release stated.

The agreement between General Jim Hockenhull, Commander of UK Strategic Command, and Doug Beck, Director of the US Defense Innovation Unit, will see officers from both countries work together to accelerate the commercialization of technologies to solve real-world operational challenges.

The liaisons will be responsible for promoting collaboration between defense technology developers and end-users across the UK and US. This will include liaising with industry partners, academic institutions, and international allies to share knowledge and ideas and collaborate on the development of cutting-edge science and technology.

The agreement was signed by Hockenhull and Beck at the Strategic Command Conference 2024, which brought together over 250 leading experts from international allies and partners, across government, industry, and academia.

The Strategic Command Conference aims to strengthen the partnership between the UK and US defense industries. Jim Hockenhull, Commander of UK Strategic Command, said: “As technological advancements continue to accelerate, we must collaborate ever more closely with our international allies and industry partners.
