New Delhi: The Chief of the Royal Australian Navy, VAdm Mark Hammond, is in India for a five-day visit, a PIB press release stated.

During his visit, he is expected to strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation by increasing operational exchanges, training opportunities, and information sharing.

VAdm Hammond laid a ceremonial wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on April 3. He was then welcomed by the Indian Navy with a Guard of Honour. He is also scheduled to call on the Chief of the Defense, the Chief of the Air Staff, and the Defense Secretary of India in New Delhi.

As part of his visit, VAdm Hammond is also scheduled to visit the Indian Navy’s Southern Naval Command (at Kochi) and Western Naval Command (at Mumbai). While visiting these commands, he is expected to interact with the Commanders-in-Chiefs, visit INS Vikrant, Druv Simulator, ND(Mbi) and M/s MDL.

The visit by VAdm Hammond to India is aimed at strengthening the strong and long-lasting bilateral relations between the two navies. It also comes after the successful participation of the Royal Australian Ship HMNAS Warramunga during MILAN 24.
