‘Why have you come to my country?’ Ukrainian woman confronts Russian soldier in viral video

Lauding the woman's 'bravery', some Twitter users also praised the Russian for being 'kind' and 'apologetic' towards an unarmed civilian.

New Delhi: A Ukrainian woman was captured on camera Thursday while confronting a heavily-armed Russian soldier and demanding to know what they were doing in her country in Henychesk, Kherson region, reported Ukraine World.

According to the video shared by the news organisation on Twitter, she urged the soldier to put sunflower seeds in their pockets, so that flowers could grow when they died on Ukrainian land.

The Ukrainians’ outrage is in response to Russia ordering special military action against their country, which has led to bombings in Kyiv, Kharkiv among other areas. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has termed Russian aggression as ‘an attack on their sovereignty’.
A full transcript of the exchange was shared by Journalist Chris Taylor, which showed the enraged woman calling the soldiers “occupants,” “enemies” and “fascists”  and that they would be “cursed” for coming “uninvited” to their land with guns.
The Russian soldier in the video was seen wielding a large machine gun on his hip and a handgun while trying to calm the woman. He told her not to “escalate the situation” and that their discussion would lead nowhere, according to the transcript.
The video was retweeted by over 90,000 users. They lauded the woman for her “bravery”. Some also seemed to be impressed by the behaviour of the Russian soldier for being “kind” and “apologetic” instead of violent towards an unarmed civilian.

Twitter users said:

User @EvilBun00935196 found the situation poetic as the woman appeared to be planting a “seed of doubt” in the soldier’s mind.

Some users called the woman their “hero” and others showed support in their fight against the Russians.

And then there were those who, though showing solidarity with Ukrainians, were impressed by the Russian soldier’s attitude.
