SAO PAULO, Oct 21 (Reuters) – Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro’s lead over President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has narrowed ahead of an October 25 runoff, a Quaest poll showed on Wednesday.

The eldest son of former right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro would receive 45% of the vote, compared with 44% for the leftist incumbent, according to the poll.

• It was the first Quaest poll released after a television debate between the two candidates on Sunday

• A week earlier, Bolsonaro had 46% of the vote compared with Lula’s 44%

• Quaest surveyed 2,154 people between October 17-20; margin of error 2 percentage points

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
