New Delhi: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed a new country director for Bangladesh, the bank said in a press release on Monday, adding that the new director will head up ADB’s operations in the country and engage in policy dialogue with the interim government, development partners, and other stakeholders.
According to the release, Hoe Yun Jeong, a national of Korea, has been appointed as the new country director for Bangladesh. A seasoned professional with 25 years of experience, including 15 years in ADB, Mr. Jeong has held senior positions in various countries and has worked on various development projects.
Mr. Jeong’s extensive experience in working with development partners, enhancing knowledge operations, and coordinating ADB’s support for India’s G20 Presidency, will be invaluable in his new role, the press release said.
Mr. Jeong will initiate the preparation of ADB’s upcoming country partnership strategy (CPS) for Bangladesh. The current strategy will expire in 2025.
Mr. Jeong expressed his commitment to working closely with the people and government of Bangladesh to “restore economic and fiscal stability and implement broad-based reforms critical for economic diversification and a sustained growth trajectory, including progress toward the country’s long-term development goals.”
