New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as the president of the Indian National Congress has left Twitter shook, eliciting responses that are mostly in line with expectations.
Sanjay Jha, national spokesperson of Congress, was all praises for Rahul Gandhi and thanked him for persevering against all odds. He is still a member of the party, sir, don’t worry!
He was attacked relentlessly, humiliated repeatedly and mercilessly abused, but he hung in there bravely despite a choreographed campaign against him. He never gave up. He hasn’t either. The battle for truth is perennial. And it is never easy. Thanks #RahulGandhi for everything.

BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, though, wasn’t left impressed by Gandhi’s letter. No kind parting words, ma’am?
Sad to see what bad picture of Bharat Mata is painted by RG to global audience. Accusations contrary to statistical evidence, sounds no more than cacophony of those who emptied the treasured vessels for decades. Fact of resignation lost beyond first para in the letter. https://t.co/wtYvNG3myv

Never the one to miss out on anything, the Karnataka BJP handle had its own spin on the Congress president’s resignation. Rest assured, we are saving this tweet.
So for next 4 years you will see a non Gandhi slogging to build the party & then you will see the grand entry of @RahulGandhi to take over the party & contest for the post of PM
But the history will repeat & BJP will win again

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, general secretary of the Congress party, was ever the supporting sister as Rahul Gandhi stepped down. She said few have the courage he does. We think all of us could do with such support in our lives.
Few have the courage that you do @rahulgandhi. Deepest respect for your decision. https://t.co/dh5JMSB63P

While most of Twitter was busy debating Rahul Gandhi’s move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took time out to wish everybody best wishes for the Rath Yatra. Jai Jagannath!
Best wishes to everyone on the special occasion of the Rath Yatra.
We pray to Lord Jagannath and seek his blessings for the good health, happiness and prosperity of everyone.
Jai Jagannath. pic.twitter.com/l9v36YlUQ5

The party is still in a state of shock after Rahul Gandhi’s resignation, but the Congress didn’t miss a beat to call out Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement that demonetisation had no impact on the Indian economy. Looks like the party might still have a fight or two left in it yet.
Demonetisation led to:
2% loss to GDP growth
1.5 million jobs lost
53.46% decline in RBI surplus
20-30% decline in Industrial production
What further examples of its effect on the economy does Smt @nsitharaman need before she accepts it was a failure? https://t.co/I6vMSePmwR

Smriti Irani may be a Union minister today, but it seems like the actress in her will always be alive. We say this after she remembered 19 years of her daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. ‘Tulsi’ was quite the iconic character after all!
This day that year @ektaravikapoor ? https://t.co/tazJnpHkSu

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi probably wanted to inspire people with a poem she tweeted out. Unfortunately, she just ended up getting schooled by actor Amitabh Bachchan for attributing the poem to Hindi litterateur, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. A little fact checking next time, ma’am?
देवी जी , ये पंक्तियाँ बाबूजी , डॉक्टर हरिवंश राई बच्चन जी की नहीं हैं ; ये कविवर द्विवेदी जी की हैं !!!!!

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat appreciated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to make rain water harvesting mandatory for all government buildings. Such inter-party camaraderie could do Delhi a world of good.
I appreciate the decision https://t.co/0TzZyzAOOB

On Swami Vivekananda’s 117th death anniversary, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remembered said the spiritual guru’s philosophy of universal brotherhood is more relevant now than ever. Is that an election message, ma’am?
"The more we come out and do good to others, the more our hearts will be purified"
On his death anniversary, tribute to #SwamiVivekananda, who took India's spirituality to the world stage. His philosophy of universal brotherhood is relevant now more than ever

Always the problem solver, US President Donald Trump said if illegal immigrants are unhappy in the detention centres then they should simply not come to the US. We can’t escape the sensitivity and nuance in this argument, Mr Trump.
If Illegal Immigrants are unhappy with the conditions in the quickly built or refitted detentions centers, just tell them not to come. All problems solved!
