New Delhi: From Bollywood stars to politicians, everybody has expressed grief or outrage over the brutal murder of a 3-year-old girl in Aligarh on Twitter, but conspicuous by their silence are Uttar Pradesh chief minister and deputy chief minister — Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya, respectively.

Maurya preferred to dwell upon the successes of government schemes in the state like the PM Ujjala Yojana. Mistaken priorities, Mr Maurya?

@BJP4India pic.twitter.com/HFQbhzXeaW

In translation: Under the Prime Minister Ujala scheme, 35.08 million LED bulbs have been distributed in the country so far. Savings of more than Rs 18,225 crore per annum. Reduced CO2 emissions up to 3.69 million tonnes per annum. Energy saving more than 45,562 mn KWh per year

The Congress has suddenly come to life. Many of its leaders took to Twitter to protest against the heinous Aligarh crime. First among them was Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who spoke for most people when she asked, “What has become of us?”

Congress president Rahul Gandhi also tweeted his outrage on the crime and then set off to visit his constituency, Wayanad — a fortnight after the results. Well, better late than never, Mr Gandhi, planning to visit Amethi next?

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, fresh from his promise of free public transport for women in Delhi, renewed his credentials as ‘Janata ka CM’ tag, by rededicating himself to the public and the nation. Hey, that’s the BJP’s line.

In translation: What we are today is due to the beliefs of these people. It is our endeavor that every moment of our life is spent in the service of the country.

French President Emmanuel Macron remembered the promise of Normandy and spoke about being worthy of it. He reminded everyone that when free people unite they can face all kinds of challenges. Hmm, if only a certain president would listen to him.

In translation: We must be worthy of the heritage of peace, worthy of the promise of Normandy. Never forget that free people, when united, can face all challenges.

And here’s another yoga lesson from the PM’s animated series. Looks like this is going to be a daily event till the 21-June, World Yoga Day.

BJP’s Sambit Patra took a break from his nightly yelling matches on TV to comment on speculation that Congress could have two working presidents. That should please you, Mr Patra — you would have two punching bags for the post of one.

While the rest of his contemporaries go to politicians’ ‘Iftar’ parties, Mr Shatrughan Sinha does things in style. He went to the ‘Iftar’ party of ‘Salman bhai’ and celebrated it with the rest of the Khan family. Had he got superstar Salman Khan to campaign for him during his Lok Sabha campaign, he might have won.

‘Dream girl’ and BJP MP Hema Malini donated funds to a college, given to her by none other than co-actor and friend, Rekha, from her own Rajya Sabha MP Fund.

And here’s one for the history book: ABP’s tweeting of BJP Rajasthan state president Madan Lal Saini claiming that Emperor Akbar misbehaved with a Bikaner queen in Meena Bazaar.
