Ready ambulances, trained staff — why Jharkhand relied on Ziqitza during Covid

Ziqitza Health Care Limited (ZHL) has been a pioneer in providing emergency medical and transport services in India since 2005. Its motto is that no person should ever have to lose his life due to a delay in the arrival of emergency services.

When Covid struck, it brought the country to a standstill. Since March 2021, 108 ambulance staff and more than 10,000 healthcare workers of Ziqitza have worked hard day and night in the fight against Covid. In Jharkhand, it has saved 6.5 lakh lives. It has 337 ambulances on the ground in Jharkhand.

Ziqitza considers its ambulance staff no less than freedom fighters for helping the country fight against this deadly disease. The company has completed four successful years of its service and during these four years, and has provided emergency services to 6,56,641 people of the state.

Commitment to good work

Speaking about this journey, Mr. Amitabh Jaipuria, MD & CEO Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd, said: “These four years have been an incredible journey. Jaipuria highlighted that pregnant women have been very happy with their services. “In four years, we have served 2.85 lakh women to reach the hospital safely and on time. Apart from this, we have also served approximately one lakh accident-related cases. Even now, every day we receive thousands of calls and our ambulance service is required at hundreds of places, but we are ready at every moment to offer help in every city and every village. We have also faced lots of challenges but we made continued efforts to better our services through hard work and dedication to save lives.”

337 ambulances deployed across Jharkhand

The emergency service operated by Ziqitza Limited in the state is available to the general public 24×7 free of cost. The company has its centralised call center in Ranchi, from where all the calls are managed and ambulances are dispatched. To operate this free-of-charge service in every nook and corner of the state, 337 ambulances are deployed out of which 40 are Advance Life Support (ALS) ambulances, while 287 ambulances are operating with a basic life support system. 10 ambulances in the state are used on highways to tend to accident cases on highways.

Helping COVID patients and overcoming challenges

Over 37,172 Covid-19 cases have been handled by its ambulance team in Jharkhand while ensuring that infection does not spread from one patient to another. ZHL has taken many measures to ensure that the ambulances are safe for people. The staff is provided with essential equipment to keep themselves safe from infection with face masks, hand gloves, PPE kits, sanitisers in sufficient quantity. Ambulances are also sanitized thoroughly after every patient is served. Similar initiatives were taken at Ziqitza Rajasthan.

Helping migrant workers reach home safely

In 2020, when the lockdown had made it difficult for migrant workers and students from Jharkhand stranded in different states across India, to reach home, 108 ambulances were used as emergency vehicles at Ranchi railway station when a group of approximately 4000 migrant laborers and students came back to their home state from Vellore through special trains.
