Pickcel is helping Amazon extend its services to both urban & rural shoppers

Pickcel is a leading digital signage software firm offering cloud-based and on-premise solutions. The organisation was founded in 2014, and within five years of its inception, the brand successfully established dominance in the European and MENA region digital signage markets.

Back home, Pickcel partnered with retail e-commerce giant Amazon for two Indian projects:

Amazon Mall Kiosk: Anyone who has rambled through the concourse of any Indian shopping mall must have noticed how quickly the attention of shoppers shifts from one store to another, from one product to the next. It is safe to say that urban mall-goers are not planned purchasers, they are driven by impulse.

Amazon was quick to catch on to this wisdom as their static advertisements and posters failed to grab the attention of the urban shoppers of India. Turning to Pickcel, the Amazon kiosks across 25+ shopping malls were transformed with a new digital look. Screens were deployed, and dynamic multimedia-based promotions of Amazon Echo, Amazon Kindle, and Amazon Fire Stick started. The digital generation of India was naturally curious and the engagement started to look promising.

“When Amazon approached us for the Amazon Kiosk project, they were using static signboards and USB-driven media on TV screens to display their promotions, and this was slowing them down,” said Basudev Saha, co-founder, Pickcel.

“The day we completed the project, we knew this would be big for them and for us too,” he added.

Amazon Easy Stores: Businesses in India, especially retail businesses, cannot remain satisfied by pleasing just the urban masses. If the country’s diversity is rich, its contrast is paradoxical. According to the World Bank’s population data, a stark 65.074 per cent of Indians are not city dwellers.

Amazon has thousands of ‘Easy stores’ in rural and semi-urban locations of India. Since a large section of consumers in these areas has little to no knowledge of operating the internet and shopping online, the Easy stores have local store staff who assist the shoppers with online ordering. But Amazon Easy witnessed a significant challenge in reaching these customers with their deals and promotions as the customers were not directly browsing the Amazon e-commerce site. That is why the client needed a digital signage solution to increase the visibility of every new deal and offer. With Pickcel’s solution, the Amazon offers could be rolled out in real-time and achieve maximum visibility.

“In business, there is no one-size-fits-all problem-solving. What makes Amazon such a successful brand is that they employ unique approaches for different challenges. During the Amazon Easy project, even though our client was solving a business obstacle, they were essentially solving their customers’ problems, making their experience easier,” said Pickcel co-founder Rajesh Bhattacharjee, adding: “And that is the mantra we like to follow at Pickcel. We have to solve our clients’ challenges.”

About Pickcel

Pickcel provides a simple and powerful solution to manage and publish content on remote digital signage screens. Pickcel’s app store empowers organisations to leverage content from various internet sources and in-house enterprise applications.

After the outbreak of the Covid-19, like all other companies, Pickcel too found itself navigating the unknown waters of closed office doors and remote working. But it quickly adapted to the needs of the hour. Since Pickcel is a B2B brand, it soon realised that it needed to design solutions that would help brands overcome the same challenges they were facing – the challenges brought in by Covid. That’s how Pickcel solutions like the Queue management system, Digital Discount Coupon and Touchless Kiosk solutions were born.

The digital signage brand serves clients from all industries, including corporate, retail, transport, food service, hospitality, and healthcare. Some of their most decorated clients are popular names like Etisalat, Hindustan Unilever, NEC, JW Marriott, Myntra, Decathlon, and Asian Paints.

The firm’s 2022 new year resolution is to dominate the United States market, and it is on track to achieve that goal.
