JEE Main 2023 notification likely to be out in October: Check exam dates, eligibility & latest changes

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main for admission to B.E/B. Tech course in IITs, NITs, CFTIs and other recognized colleges.

JEE Main 2023 official notification is expected to be released by the last week of October, 2022. NTA releases the application form for JEE Main along with the notification. JEE Main Phase 1 and Phase 2 are likely to be conducted in the months of January and April, 2023.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) may conduct JEE Main 2023 twice and the results for both phases will be released by the first week of June 2023, (tentatively). The admit card for JEE Main 2023 will be released around the first week of January, 2023.

JEE Main latest news

The scheme of examination for JEE Main 2023 is likely to remain the same as that of the previous year. However, as per the latest reports, JEE Apex Board (JAB) will now be conducting JEE Main instead of NTA. This, however, does not make any significant changes to the exam pattern or marking scheme or JEE Main or Advanced.

JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria

NTA has stated the minimum eligibility criteria in order to be eligible for JEE Main 2023. A candidate shall have passed or appeared in the intermediate examination in 2021 and 2022 only. However, there is no age limit prescribed by the NTA.

  • The subjects in class 12 must include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Language paper and any other optional subject.
  • For admission in IITs, NITs and other CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutions), the candidates must secure at least 75% in class 12 board exams. 
  • If the candidate belongs to SC/ST category, the minimum mark in class 12 should be 65%.

JEE Main 2023 exam pattern and marking scheme

For B.Tech courses, the total number of questions in JEE Main will be 90 and the maximum marks in the paper will be 300 marks. The marks are divided into 3 equal parts i.e. 100 marks each for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

  • In each subject, there will be 30 MCQs and 10 numerical-based questions.
  • Candidates are supposed to solve only 5 questions out of the 10 numerical-based questions.
  • For B.Arch and B.Planning Courses, the total number of questions will be 82 and 105 respectively and the full marks in both segments will be 400 marks. 

JEE Main examination fee

JEE Main examination fee for B.E/B.Tech or B.Arch/B.Planning course is 650.00 INR for male candidates. The female candidates and other gender are required to pay 350.00 INR.

If the candidate wants to apply for both B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch or B.E/B.Tech and B.Planning, the total examination fee for males will be 1300.00 INR and that for females and other gender will be 650.00 INR.

JEE Main application fee for SC/ST category will be the same as that of female candidates i.e. 325.00 INR.
