GATE Registration 2023 Begins, Check Important Dates, Eligibility and Application Process

IIT Kanpur has begun the registration process for GATE exam 2023 on August 30, 2022. The last date to fill the registration form is September 30, 2022 without late fee. The GATE exam 2023 will be held for 29 papers on February 4, 5, 11 and 12.

The Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) is a national level entrance exam conducted for aspirants seeking admission into Master’s or PhD. programs in IITs, IISc, NITs, GFTIs etc. and recruitment in PSUs, Central Government and private sector. The exam is conducted in online mode for 29 disciplines and each candidate can appear for 2 papers.

The last date for registering with a late fee is October 7, 2022. Corrections in the application form can be made from November 4 to November 11, 2022. The GATE 2023 admit card will be released on January 3, 2023.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates applying for the GATE exam need to fulfill certain requirements to be eligible to take the exam. The eligibility criteria for GATE 2023 released by the IIT Kanpur includes the following:
● Candidates should be citizens of India. Candidates from other countries including
Ethiopia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Singapore and UAE can also apply.
● Candidates must have completed or should be in the final year of graduation in
engineering/technology or postgraduate degree.
● There is no age limit for the candidates appearing in the GATE exam.

GATE Application Process 2023

The registration process will be conducted completely in online mode. The steps of GATE 2023 registration are as follows:

● Initial Registration: Initial registration is to be done through the GATE Online
Application Processing System (GOAPS). Enter the required details on the portal
including name, valid email ID, mobile number and password. Then the candidate is
required to enter the OTP received on the registered phone number or email ID. After
the initial registration, candidates will get a unique enrollment ID.

● Application Form Filling: Complete the application form with other details like personal
details, academic details, papers the candidate wants to appear in, choosing
examination center, category, ID proof etc.
● Documents Uploading: Candidates need to upload the scanned copies of photo,
candidate’s signature, and other documents in the required format.
● Payment of Application Fee: Pay the required application fee in online mode to
complete the registration process.

GATE Registration Fees 2023

The registration fee for the male candidates for general, OBC and other categories is Rs. 1,700 and for SC, ST and PwD candidates is Rs. 850. Female candidates are also required to pay Rs. 850. for registration.

Male candidates of general, OBC and other categories registering after the last date shall pay an amount of Rs. 2,200 while SC, ST and PwD candidates are charged Rs. 1,350. The late fee for female candidates is also Rs. 1,350.

Correction in GATE Application Form

Candidates who wish to make changes in their application forms will be able to do so from
November 4 to November 11, 2022. The corrections in GATE application form can be made
through the GOAPS portal by logging in with the required credentials. Candidates can edit the following details in their application forms:
● Name & Date of Birth
● Category
● Country of Residence
● Address & Mobile Number
● Examination Center Details
● Academic Details

GATE Exam Pattern 2023

GATE exam 2023 will be conducted in online mode for all the candidates. It will be held for a duration of 3 hours. The GATE exam will be divided into two sections – General Aptitude and Subject selected by the candidate. Total 65 questions will be asked including 10 from the General Aptitude section. The types of questions include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.
The marks distribution for all the papers except AR, GG, EY, CY, PH, MA and XL is as follows:

● Engineering Mathematics – 13 Marks
● Questions from the Selected Subject – 72 Marks
● General Aptitude – 15 Marks
Marks distribution for AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH and XL papers is:
● Questions from the Selected Subject – 85 Marks
● General Aptitude – 15 Marks

All the questions will carry either 1 or 2 marks. There will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks in one-mark MCQs and 2/3 marks in two-marks MCQs. However, no marks will be deducted for wrong answers in MSQs and NAT questions. Visit Zollege.in, to know more updates about the exam details.
