For years, the beauty marketing around weddings has assumed that beauty begins and ends with the bride. Everyone else is an accessory. But that idea feels outdated now.
Bitcoin is up about 23% this week, on track for its best weekly gain since March 2023, as US Treasury bond buybacks lower yields and boost appetite for risk assets.
Maritime security agreement opens avenues for joint development of naval ships and design, greater use of Indian shipbuilding and repair facilities by Japan.
At some point Pakistani dictators begin to show paranoia. That’s the strategic reality most relevant to India since the late fifties. Munir’s case is worse, like some sudden acrophobia.
Who is this sanghi spouting nonsense. I want to do lots of things too, like overthrowing our present corrupt government. But I can’t.
This author talk about things he would want to do but knows very well that we can’t. What’s about civil servants children studying abroad? You don’t need huge finances for that? My father retired as a central government clerk and my brother is in USA!! For the foreseeable future, we will have to depend on USA as Modi has made us dependent rather than spread the risks. He hated the Europeans for the historic past. Not easy to turn back now.
MR. RJ is right, though this isn’t a new revelation. Bharat has known about engine dependency, capital market exposure, and software services concentration for decades. Yet here it is, still negotiating from a crouch.
The Quad was always America’s club. India was the useful partner — present, respectable, but never equal. Genuine bilaterals make far more strategic sense. At least there, Bharat can negotiate on own terms, not as supplicants.
The nuance, that many eminent commentators missed, in Jagannathan’s argument is critical… this isn’t about dumping America. It’s about mature statecraft. Strip the relationship of romantic illusions, treat every deal as strictly transactional, and impose reciprocal costs.
For too long, Delhi has been the Kupastha Manduka — settling comfortably into structural dependencies, one deal at a time, never questioning the well it was sinking into.
A Sthitaprajna acts from absolute clarity, not geopolitical compulsion. Right now, Delhi is letting compulsion dictate the terms.
I support what this article says. Other countries offer much better opportunities in partnership. US is simply now a national security risk. Overly dependent on US tech and alliance is fatal for India. Even if we want to reduce our dependence on Russia for our defense, it doesn’t mean we should be dependent on US. There are other partners that can give us more benefits. Indian ITES has to now mature and stop being slaves to US markets. Theu should have long developed a unique position in IT world. But they are becoming redundant instead.
Make no mistake, I’m not suggesting that we dispense away with democracy. India cannot survive without it, unlike China which is homogeneous . We must preserve the institutions of democracy for another day when we can truly aspire to become a genuine democracy. Emphasis on rule of law, the defining characteristic of Singapore, should also be fostered here. Violence and intimidation of Muslims must cease. They’re the only other group this country can trust to work with Hindus for the national cause for the simple reason that they cannot leave it like the Hindus. We need to achieve prosperity and comprehensive national strength before we take another shot at being the best democracy, for a hungry stomach can’t be bothered about moral values. Much of the ingredients are already in place in today’s imperfect democracy. Let the opposition enjoy power in some states. But the national power must remain with one dominant party and there must be predictable policies from this party. We don’t need to be reminded that the state is all powerful every now and then. Modi should guard his flanks with the gerrymander and stop obsessing over expanding power and get down to business and fast. We need to urbanized rapidly, in a planned and orderly manner to absorb more rural labour in the urban economies so that rural livelihoods can be sustained without much subsidy support. We should also try to promote diverse currencies in our trade. Russia is a lost cause and is totally at China’s mercy. Sooner we reduce our reliance, the better. We should go further with the EU on strategic interests and that is not possible while we remain tethered to Russia.
After grovelling at the feet of the Americans, Swarajya’s champion has now realised what many Indians always knew. But don’t just stop with the US. Include all 5 eyes members as the other 4 are deeply interwoven with the US and depend on it for their very survival. Read brexit negotitor Juncker’s views on the UK readmission into the EU. We seek to compensate for our dysfunctional politics of freebies and romanticising farm subsidies by an ever deepening submission before the Anglo saxon elites. India should urgently gerrymander against rural interests, drastically prune these subsidies and build up industrial and technological resilience at home. Being the best democracy has no prizes. Look to Lee Kuan yew’s choices for Singapore. They’re also applicable to India. And stop trusting Israel. Israel will definitely lose and will take us down with them. This is not the Israel of Shimon Peres that we trusted so much. It’s a fascist state with a fascist populace. Let the US deal with it.
Neither the USA nor the world gives two hoots about what poor socialist India does. Our country is a part of the world, but it doesn’t count. We have no money, no skills, no firepower, and no intelligence, to name a few deficiencies. We are a big zero in this world. Trying to build a fighter jet with an imported engine is reason enough to make us a laughing stock.
Israel is going down and will soon be conquered by the Arabs. We need to build ties with the Muslim world.

Call me a stubborn beast, opinionated for sure. Have never posted a single comment in favour of Quad. From day one.
