Bengal Covid cases skyrocket days after it eased curbs for Xmas & New Year, positivity at 19.6%

Kolkata’s positivity rate has hit 38.37%, one of the highest in the country. On 3 January, West Bengal reported 6,078 new Covid-19 cases, of which 2,801 were in Kolkata alone.

The active cases have declined to 4,30,422 and comprise 1.39% of the total infections, while the national Covid recovery rate stands at 97.28%, the health ministry data showed.
