The election, which centred largely on Trump’s tariffs & threats of making Canada 51st state of the US, saw the NDP crash to 4th place. Jagmeet Singh also lost his own seat.
Singh lost his seat in the House of Commons, one he's held since 2019, coming in third. The NDP has also lost its official status, failing to secure the 12 seats necessary.
Singh said his party, 4th largest in the House, was tearing up an agreement struck with Trudeau’s Liberal Party in 2022 that allowed the Canadian PM to lead a minority government.
