Union minister denies all allegations, says he broke no rules & in turn alleges violations during the construction of Matoshree-2, the Thackerays’ new bungalow in Bandra
BJP leader Narayan Rane’s slap remarks is the latest unsavoury comment by a politician. But he is not alone — over the past 30 years, political discourse has taken a turn for the worse.
Narayan Rane started his political career with Shiv Sena in 1970s, quit the party in 2005, and joined Congress, before eventually entering BJP. He was once known as a Konkan strongman.
Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Rane claimed that Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had used unpalatable words while referring to Union home minister Amit Shah and UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
The govt's assurance came a day after the BJP leader was arrested in a case registered against him over the same remarks and a local court granted him bail late at night.
Rane was granted bail after being arrested Tuesday following his remarks that he would have slapped Uddhav Thackeray. He claimed the CM didn't know the year of India's independence.
Nashik police Tuesday issued orders for Rane's arrest over remarks on 'slapping' Uddhav Thackeray, which had sparked row resulting in stone-pelting between the BJP and Sena workers.
Shiv Sena workers put posters in Mumbai and other places calling the BJP leader Rane a 'chicken stealer', referring to a poultry shop he ran in the past.
What is Shiv Sena’s ideology? We might say it’s been a convenient mix of extreme ethnic chauvinism & unforgiving Hindutva. Within the second, the party retained space to manoeuvre.
