They were so corrupt, that they would take most of the compensation if a forced labourer died. Also, only 210 pandits were killed. The “exodus” was when India claimed that they would be killed if they remained and they would be bought back in 3 months. It has been 30 years and they haven’t come back. India cheated them. And when they left, they kept the governor as Jagganath, and massacres occured. If we combine the casualties of only Gawakadal massacre, Handwara massacre, Zakoora and Tengpora massacre (160+33+21) then it exceeds the casualties of pandits, not to mention all the innocent people killed by the army, the “dissapeared”, the torture (so widespread 1 in 3 kashmiri muslims have experienced it), and the countless rapes.

Come on Ms Bamzai, you wrote a full article on the exodus not even once mentioning the complete apathy and even collusion of the then state apparatus in this exodus.
And yeah, mentioned testimonies of Mr Pandita and even bigots like Vivek Agnihotri but had no space for dissenting opinions like those expressed by Ms Nitasha Kaul, a Pandit in exile !
Amicable solution is only possible through a dialogue between all Kashmiris, and only after the Pandit community understands how their suffering has been turned by their leaders into a weapon of garnering votes.
CAA was the first step towards a respectable life for Bengali Hindus, Removal of Article 370 was the first step towards restoring rights of Kashmiri Hindus. The right-wing in India doesn’t play votebank politics. It does what it promised.

Muslims did this in Pakistan and Bangladesh. they did this in Kashmir. and they will do the same when they become majority in West Bengal and Assam. But Hindus are not allowed to talk about it. This newspaper never raises the question with Bangladeshi ministers why Hindus leave Bangladesh and the Muslims do not leave India.
The blame for the collective amnesia lies squarely with our lefty ecosystem. Consider the editor of The Print, Jyoti Malhotra. In an interview with a guest a while ago (in a video posted on The Print), she said Kashmiri Pandits “left” the valley as if to imply that they left on a whim; she could not get herself to even say that they were driven out. Jyoti Malhotra’s view is symptomatic of the entire lefty media-intelligentia- politics ecosystem that monopolized India until recently and still overwhelmingly dominates it. These people suffer from a pathological refusal to point a finger whenever the perpetrator of a crime is a Muslim – whether it is the religious cleaning in Kashmir or a terror attack elsewhere in India. They even started spreading canards that the Pandits left for no good reason based on a few stray incidents (I am sure you would have seen some mediawallahs parroting this line on the tv in the recent weeks). The entire lefty media ecosystem deserves to be crushed mercilessly for their deliberate falsification of even the contemporary Indian history.
