The Captain of USS Carrier was not a conscript. If he has raised the issue in this manner, there must be solid reason behind it. It’s equally naive for us to comment upfront that it was childish on his part. We have accused that they would have played with Chain of Command and proper probe. But, we are equally to be blamed for lashings out with limited know how of the entire episode. Finally, this virus is a new virus with its characteristics not known and it could have killed hundreds by the time the Chain of Command would have started to react. Who knows??? Wasn’t it appropriate that the chain of command approach was by-passed with the authority imposed upon a Captain to save his ship and his men???
Indian veterans Admirals especially had no business to comment so early. These are covid cases where exposures do not wait for chain of Comd. So sis, the chain of Comd was not reacting with alacrity to take corrective measures, hence the Capt used all resources st his Comd for expeditiously acting. The validation stands due Navy and MoD taking all actions recommended by Capt Crozier after his dismissal. Isn’t this stupid action by hierarchy? Which Indian CNS has resigned after Mumbai attack?
