India needs to US to counter China in Indo Pacific and to fulfill this objective, it hardly matters whether India join with US or the Quad openly or otherwise. China has been inimical Indian interests in cahoot with Pakistan or otherwise. We are allowing them benefit of trade surplus of over 70 billion USD per year which is just senseless. Just look at how Trump has gone about trying to renegotiate trade deals with everyone around to ensure that USA’s trade deficit is contained. India in comparison has done nothing over the years to cap, reduce and eliminate Chinese trade surplus and our trading community has been merrily importing cheap Chinese goods and selling them in India. We need to take a hard stand with China and time has indeed come to join Quad openly for this, including Blue Dot initiative
