Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi tells ThePrint in an exclusive interview his party has floated the idea of an electoral alliance with Trinamool in Assam.
The two newly floated regional parties, which were borne out of anti-CAA sentiment, had joined hands in February this year and contested the Assam assembly election in March-April.
Independent Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi was released after special NIA court cleared him of all charges under UAPA for his alleged role in the violent anti-CAA stir in December 2019.
An NIA judge held that there was no ‘incitement’ to damage property or obstruct public officials to categorise Gogoi’s actions as punishable under UAPA.
Akhil Gogoi, a prominent activist in the state, did not even campaign as he has been jailed since 2019 on sedition and UAPA charges over protests against CAA.
