Colombo, Sep 19 (PTI) Former Sri Lanka chief selector Pramodaya Wickramasingha has filed legal action against the interim committee currently running Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), seeking compensation for what he termed improper termination of his two-year appointment.
In a statement, Wickramasingha said he had “instituted legal action before the Commercial High Court of Colombo seeking Rupees 75 million in compensation” over his dismissal.
Wickramasingha, a member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning team, said he was appointed chairman of selectors on December 17, 2025, and had made a substantial personal and professional commitment to SLC after accepting the position.
He alleged that his dismissal had caused “serious and unwarranted damage” to his professional standing and credibility.
The current interim committee of SLC was appointed by the then Sports Minister in April following the resignation of the elected administration headed by Shammi Silva.
The interim arrangement was aimed at revamping the governance of SLC and addressing allegations of corruption.
The ICC, however, has opposed political interference in the administration of cricket and has already shifted the hosting rights of the Women’s Champions Trophy away from Sri Lanka. PTI Cor AH AH
