New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday urged the central government to focus on vaccines, oxygen and other health services amid the COVID-19 pandemic instead of “spending on PR and unnecessary projects”.
Gandhi’s remarks come a day after he questioned the government’s priority in going ahead with the Central Vista project in the midst of the pandemic crisis.
In a tweet in Hindi on Saturday, Gandhi appealed to the Centre to focus on vaccines, oxygen and other health services instead of “spending on PR and unnecessary projects”.
“This crisis will deepen in the coming days. The country has to be prepared to deal with this. The current plight is unbearable!” the former Congress chief said.
According to government data updated on Saturday morning, the COVID-19 case tally in India rose by a record 3,46,786 cases to reach 1,66,10,481, while the death toll touched 1,89,544 with 2,624 more fatalities.

Very well said. Modi is still spending more than 20000 crores in new parliament and other central govts buildings, which is his tughlaqi vanity project. It would have been a criminal waste of resources in normal times even, but especially more so in the current dire circumstances.
On a different note, there is the mysterious PM Cares fund, which is away from any sort of accounting scrutiny. No one knows it can know how much money has been collected there and what’s it being used for?

Its ridiculous to hear educated people talking about export of vaccines. Looks like their sense of information is extremely low. First of all Covisheild is a UK vaccine. Oxford has just allowed the production of the vaccine by Serum. A certain quantity of the vaccine after being produced has to be given back to UK for their usage and also to many other countries. Infact India had to send much much more but the Central government has put a ban on itfor further exports leaving UK furious for not keeping the earlier commitment. UK scientists have invented the vaccine and the production is happening in Serum pune as it is one of the largest vaccine producing companies in the world.
In a Global pandemic there is a certain amount of limitation to what a Government can do, citizens should know what is best and take necessary precautions. In a 24×7 eired world people should take responsibility and start behaving accordingly instead of waiting for governments to take action.
Postponing elections or not going for rallies ,road shows and stopping religious congregations could have lessened the impact.

And the results are Demonitization, covid crisis, shawls and hugs with Nawaz Sharief, swings with Chinese premier etc.
Rahul will be far better as PM. One can see that he recognizes expertise, is willing to listen and learn and isn’t hungry for screen space.
