New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut continued her tirade against the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Wednesday, calling the CJP spokesperson Saurav Das “totally useless and unemployed”.
“Dear Saurav, your issues are personal, you are not a student, you are simply useless, let’s start with learning some skill. It’s a good place to start,” she posted on Instagram.
Kangana’s comments came shortly after Das came down heavily on her remarks on Gen Z protesters, especially women, and urged politicians to “uphold the dignity of their position”.
The Lok Sabha MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh said about the CJP spokesperson: “I googled this person and he is 28 years old, how he claims to be a student I have no clue!! Yes I am in politics for past two years but I have been in public life for last 20 years. At his age I had two national awards,” she said.
“Yes, as a new parliamentarian I was overwhelmed with all the work because I am also a filmmaker+performing artist+ producer+screen writer+entrepreneur. But some like him who are totally useless and unemployed will never understand what it means to be in massive demand at all times at any age,” she added.
The MP also attacked the media with this post: “The media is ganging up against me. And they won’t tell you how much I have praised startups like SkyRoot… our country’s Gen Z who are taking us to such heights… I myself congratulated NEET students. And those children, who take responsibility for their families… Just for a few followers, likes and comments the media has been sold out and some feminist anchors are doing a bulletin and teaching me that Kangana why should these women have the burden of dignity or discipline.”
Advising Gen Z, she added: “You can’t hurt anyone’s feelings. This is not about acting cool… Don’t be impacted by Feminazi and don’t ruin your life. You have to stick to maryada when you go to your work place. Even science says the purpose of human lives is evolution and so do our shastras. But this Feminazi is teaching you to be animalistic… display animal tendencies… and go out of control and land in jail. You have to decide who is guiding you correctly.”
BJP national spokesperson R. P. Singh said that Kangana had made the comments in her personal capacity.
The controversy unfolded after the actor-politician shared a series of Instagram stories in which she referred to the young women participating in the CJP-led student protests at Jantar Mantar as ‘Generation Gutter‘.
Kangana also accused the protesters of glorifying “drugs, drinks and endless body counts”. The BJP MP had earlier also termed videos from the Jantar Mantar demonstrations as “puke-inducing”.
Her remarks came days after the 36-day agitation, spearheaded by the CJP at Jantar Mantar, ended on 25 July. In a post on Instagram on 27 July, Ranaut described videos of protesters at Jantar Mantar as display of “filth, garbage and ugliness”.
Das had dismissed Kangana’s criticism, saying: “Kangana Ranaut is not taken seriously by her own party. So why should we take her seriously? I don’t think anyone in Gen Z, or in Gen Alpha, or any younger generation takes her seriously. Or listens to her.”
Her comments were criticised by the Opposition, including the Congress and AIMIM, which demanded an apology from her.
Earlier, in yet another Instagram story, Kangana had also justified the crackdown by the Delhi Police. “Protesters who are getting beaten and abused on the roads by common people because of their filthy and abusive reels, they must understand, jab bolte ho toh sunna bhi padega (if you speak, be prepared to listen),” she said.
The Lok Sabha MP had further said that damaging public property and hurling abuses at the government would naturally provoke a response.
“If you damage public property, the public will damage you too. If you have a grievance with the country and its leadership and have publicly hurled vile abuses, then now you must listen to those who love this country and brought this government to power through the ballot,” she wrote in Hindi.
Even as Kangana continues her criticism of CJP and Gen Z, the BJP is trying to reach out to the younger generation. The party has been posting a number of videos on social media especially Instagram to reach out to them, many of which feature Gen Z and their issues, using words and phrases considered popular among young users.
One such video, posted by the BJP from its national handle on X shows a conversation among youth and trainers at a gym.
After being pointed out by young people that the current generation prefers to ‘look ahead’ rather than dwell on history, one of the trainers responds: “India of the past… scams, blasts, and instability. India of today… smartphones in hand, metros, expressways, new airports, and the rapid expansion of IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS. Development that stalled for decades is now surging ahead at a rapid pace. As the nation advances under strong leadership, seize this opportunity and focus on your career,” says an another gym trainer to a number of youngsters while explaining why young people should draw inspiration from India’s past.
“And by the way… someone’s resignation is not a personal victory for any single individual, but a symbol of the strength of democracy. The government is continuously working to address challenges and build a better future for the youth. Stay focused on your future… because a strong India = a stronger future.”
