Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu lauds NIA’s efforts in tracing and tracking the funding of the separatist groups in the Valley.

New Delhi: Lauding the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for its “thorough probe” in the J&K terror funding case, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu Wednesday said that the “separatists have been caught naked”.

He also congratulated the agency for disrupting the supply of terror funds.

“The recent investigations by the NIA in tracing and tracking the funding of the separatist groups and leaders have successfully disrupted the supply of funds to the separatist groups,” Naidu said, speaking at the raising day of NIA.

Home minister Rajnath Singh was also present at the function.

“I hope that the NIA would continue to focus on all the aspects of financing of terrorism,” he added.

Naidu also said that dissent should not be at the cost of disintegrating the nation. “Dissent is allowed. It is welcomed but an attempt to disintegrate the nation will not be okay,” he said.

Naidu also questioned what he said was Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon being celebrated in India.

“What is this philosophy of celebrating and glorifying these people? It is nonsense and not acceptable,” he said.

Referring to Pakistan, Naidu said that “the neighbour” is unable to digest India’s growth.

“Our neighbour wants to feed terrorism. It is their state policy. They want to make sure that we are weakened and crippled. But they should know that they will not succeed. We will not allow them to take even an inch of our land from us,” he said.

Rajnath Singh said the NIA needs to develop skills in cyberspace to deal with tech-savvy terrorists and criminals.

“With the advent of digitisation, artificial intelligence and internet, it has become imperative for the agency to develop scientific, professional capability to deal with the challenge,” Singh said.

He also suggested that being a federal agency, NIA should coordinate with other global agencies.

“Increased coordination with the agencies world over will help the NIA. It is also important to adopt from their best practices and lend what you are best at,” Singh added.
