Bollywood actors, songs, dance and magicians to be part of BJP’s campaign blitzkrieg.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick-start the BJP’s high-voltage election campaign in his home state Gujarat on 27 November. He will address eight rallies over two days, sources told ThePrint Thursday.

On 27 November, the PM will visit Bhuj, Jasdan, Amreli and Surat. After a day’s break, he will address rallies in Somnath, Palitana, Bhavnagar and Navsari on 29 November.

The BJP has also lined up Bollywood actors such as Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, Paresh Rawal, Hema Malini and Anupam and Kirron Kher to add celebrity quotient to its campaign to retain power in the key state.

Song and dance, magic shows as well as plays will also be part of the BJP’s campaign blitzkrieg. As reported by ThePrint earlier, approximately 30 top leaders of the party will do a ‘curtain raiser’ for Modi’s campaign on 26 November.

In line with its newly-designed campaign formula, the BJP will take out tableaux with villagers highlighting the BJP government’s achievements through song and dance shows on moving trucks.

A major attraction will be ‘Vikas ki Gatha’, to be presented in the form of folktales. It is an attempt to showcase the progress the state did under the BJP rule as compared to the Congress regime.

“It is an effective tool to connect with voters living in remote areas. People love stories and story-telling is an effective medium of communication. If we tell stories of the work we have done, they will remain etched in their memory for longer periods of time,” said a senior BJP leader.

The party will roll out ‘Vikas Raths’, mini trucks with a screen attached to it showing the clips of development. Besides, there will be videos of voters talking about the BJP government’s performance in areas such as agriculture and education.

The party will also stage plays to connect with voters — a small ‘mandali’ will sing within the play to showcase the “development model” of Gujarat. Besides, the BJP is bringing in some magicians from Maharashtra to galvanise its poll campaign.

A party source said that all campaigns will be mobile, so that these could reach out to a large number of people.

“The attempt is to reach every nook and corner of the constituency and not just keep it at one prominent location,” added the source.
