In this week’s featured cartoon, Peter Brookes illustrates England’s chief medical officer, Prof. Chris Whitty, who asked people to cut back on socialising in the run-up to Christmas in light of the UK recording the highest number of Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is facing an alleged loss of authority in the wake of allegations that his staff violated lockdown rules by holding a Christmas party last year, urged people only to “think carefully” before attending celebrations.

Andy Davey also comments on the spurt in Covid cases in the UK and takes a dig at Johnson — who has moved to ‘Plan B’ in an effort to contain Omicron — for mismanagement.

Christian Adams | Evening Standard

Christian Adams makes a reference to Johnson’s push to introduce Covid passes for people to show that they’ve been fully vaccinated or recently tested negative. The measure was passed in Parliament despite a revolt by 99 backbenchers of his own Conservative Party, thanks to support from the opposition Labour Party.

Agus Widodo | Cartoon Movement

Agus Widodo reflects on the problem of global waste management. Reportedly, 99% of what we materially consume is trashed within 6 months, leading to a world that’s producing more and more filth and pollutants.
