In today’s featured cartoon, Sanitary Panels weighs in on the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Faced with a backlash, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said last week that his government haven’t discussed the NRC. Following this, many have accused the PM of blatantly lying on NRC as his ministers, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, had, in the past, said a pan-India NRC is on their agenda.

Irshad Kaptan also comments on the anti-CAA protests.

Sajith Kumar | Deccan Herald

Sajith Kumar takes a dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments that the National Population Register (NPR) is aimed at helping citizens and for improving the planning of welfare schemes.

Nala Ponappa | Twitter

Nala Ponappa also weighs in on the CAA and the NRC, which, the cartoonist suggests, are ploys to change India into that of a Hindu Rashtra.

Kirtish Bhatt | BBC News (Hindi)

Kirtish Bhatt also alludes to the controversies arising out of the government’s citizenship Act, the proposed pan-India NRC and now the NPR.

Manjul | Firstpost

Manjul weighs in on Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s comments Thursday, criticising the people leading violent protests over the citizenship law.
