Authorities failed in Shaheen Bagh, protests should not obstruct public spaces, SC says

New Delhi: Ruling on the matter of protests, the Supreme Court said that while dissent goes hand-in-hand with democracy, protests must be carried out in designated areas and not take up public spaces indefinitely.

Speaking about Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh protest against the Citizenship Act, which went on for close to four months, the court said it was a failing on the part of the administration.
