Jaipur, Sep 19 (PTI) Two bodies allegedly got exchanged at a private hospital here on Saturday, with one family leaving with the wrong body before the hospital staff realised the mistake, police said.
The incident occurred at Aanch Hospital in Durgapura, where Girdharilal (53), a resident of Nawan in Didwana-Kuchaman district, and Ghesalal of Kotputli-Behror district’s Bansur were admitted on September 17. Both died on Friday night, police said.
On Saturday morning, the hospital handed Girdharilal’s body to Ghesalal’s family, who left for Nawan. The hospital later realised the mistake and contacted the family, asking them to return, according to police.
The incident led to a protest outside the hospital, with Girdharilal’s family alleging negligence by the hospital. They staged a dharna for around two hours.
ACP Shivdayal Bajia said an FIR has been registered on the family’s complaint and the hospital administration would be questioned.
Hospital Nursing Society spokesperson Rajveer Singh said the incident occurred due to a mistake by a Class IV employee during the body-shifting process. He said an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident. PTI AG PRK
