New Delhi: BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Friday that his party would not allow the “Hitler-like rule” of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to continue in West Bengal.
At a rally in Birbhum district, Shah said Mamata was dreaming of making her nephew Abhishek Banerjee the next chief minister. “But a chief minister from the BJP will come next. You will show us the trailer in 2024 (Lok Sabha elections). Make Modiji the Prime Minister again with 35 seats from Bengal,” he said.

He added if the BJP got 35 seats in the state, Mamata’s government would not survive in the next Assembly elections in 2025.
“The only way to remove the criminal rule of didi and bhatija is the BJP. The only answer to free Bengal of terrorism, infiltration and cow smuggling is the BJP… We did that in Assam,” he added.

Shah was in Birbhum Friday to lay the foundation stone for a party office, as part of its ‘Pravas’ campaign to boost organisation in the 144 Lok Sabha seats the BJP lost by slim margin in the 2019 general elections.
The BJP leader also said after the BJP’s win in 2024, no one would “dare attack” Ram Navami rallies in the state.
Shah’s central ministry on 4 April sought a report from the Bengal government on the violence during a Ram Navami procession in Howrah. The state government was asked to submit the report as soon as possible.
Shah had also spoken to Governor C.V. Ananda Bose on the arson during which several vehicles were torched and shops ransacked. There was violence in Hooghly’s Rishra too.
