Thane, Mar 23 (PTI) A woman teacher at a correctional home in Bhiwandi in Thane district has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing an inmate, a police official said on Thursday.

She was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Senior Inspector SA Indalkar of Shanti Nagar police station said.

The inmate had complained to the district court, which referred the matter to the collector, who in turn ordered a probe by the state Women and Child Welfare department, he said.

“The probe found the complaint to be true. She is also accused of asking inmates to beat up their teachers in return for sexual pleasure,” he said.

The woman teacher has also accused two members of the management of the correctional home of wrongdoing, he said.

A case under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been registered on the woman’s complaint, the official said. PTI COR BNM BNM
