Lucknow, Sep 21 (PTI) A woman from Agra allegedly climbed a mobile network tower near Park Road here on Monday morning, claiming that influential people had illegally occupied her one-and-a-half bigha land.
The woman, who identified herself as Durga, alleged that a man named Mansingh had encroached upon her land and that she had also received threats in connection with the dispute.
Talking to reporters, Durga said she had approached the local tehsil and district collectorate and submitted applications to the district magistrate and other officials, but her grievances had not been addressed.
“I have not been heard anywhere. My land has been encroached upon, so I have taken this step today,” she said.
Police said fire brigade personnel reached the spot and brought the woman down safely from the tower with the help of a crane.
The police, including women personnel, counselled her after she was brought down, they said, adding that the situation at the spot was under control.
Park Road begins near Hazratganj, one of the central areas of Lucknow, and extends towards the Golf Club.
The area is a high-security zone and is located near the residences of senior Uttar Pradesh ministers, bureaucrats and the chief minister. PTI KIS MDO MDO MDO
