Hyderabad, Sep 4 (PTI) Telangana Congress chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday said the party leadership sent a message with Konda Surekha’s removal as a minister that action would be taken if any party leader violates discipline.
On Surekha accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of resorting to “blackmail politics” to secure her removal though the party high command was not in favour of it, he said the former minister appears to have spoken with anger and disappointment over being dropped from the Cabinet.
He suggested that she should not speak like that in the future.
Goud said there would be more opportunities if she continues to be in Congress.
“Konda Surekha’s removal is painful. When it comes to discipline, it cannot be seen through the prism of caste, religion or region… AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge made it clear yesterday (with the removal of Surekha) that tough decisions would be taken no matter how big a person is,” he said.
CM Reddy on Thursday sacked Surekha from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect, amid a row over remarks made against him and others by her daughter.
Surekha had been in the eye of a storm following critical remarks made by her daughter against the chief minister and other party leaders, drawing sharp responses from the ruling party MLAs and functionaries. PTI SJR SJR KH
