Imphal, Sep 8 (PTI) Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday arrived here for a one-day tour to Manipur, during which he will visit the INA museum and war memorial in Bishnupur district, officials said.
Radhakrishnan was received at the Imphal Airport by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, along with other dignitaries.
He was also accorded a guard of honour upon his arrival at the airport, the officials said.
“The vice president will visit the INA museum and INA war memorial at Moirang in Bishnupur district by road. He will later return to Imphal and visit Sainik School,” an official said.
The flag of the Indian National Army (INA) was first unfurled on April 14, 1944, at Moirang.
The museum, which has a collection of letters, photographs, badges of ranks and other war memorabilia, reminds visitors of the noble sacrifices made by the INA soldiers under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
The vice president would be accompanied by Bhalla and Singh during the visit to Sainik School.
Radhakrishnan, who has come here from Assam, will leave Manipur at 4.30 pm for Donyi Polo Airport in Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar, another official said. PTI CORR BDC
