Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 2 (PTI) Former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan remains in critical condition at a private hospital after suffering a cardiac attack.

In a health bulletin on Wednesday, the hospital stated there has been no change in the condition of the veteran CPI(M) leader, who is being treated in the ICU.

On Tuesday, a seven-member specialist team from the Government Medical College visited the hospital and reviewed his treatment.

The 101-year-old leader was admitted last week and is under the care of a team of specialists. His vital parameters are being closely monitored, hospital sources said.

Achuthanandan, a towering figure in Kerala politics, has been battling age-related health issues in recent years and has largely withdrawn from public life.

He is the last surviving member of the group that founded the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 1964, following the split within the undivided Communist Party.

A lifelong advocate for social justice and workers’ rights, Achuthanandan served as Kerala’s Chief Minister from 2006 to 2011. PTI HMP SSK HMP SSK KH
