Dehradun, Oct 3 (PTI) Four pilgrims visiting the Char Dham shrines died after their health deteriorated in separate incidents over the past three days in Uttarakhand, officials said on Saturday.

According to a report by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), a pilgrim returning from Gangotri Dham in Uttarkashi district on Friday suddenly fell ill at Bhatwari.

The report said that the pilgrim’s family members immediately rushed him to the nearest Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Sridharan, a resident of Salem district in Tamil Nadu.

The report further mentioned that on October 1, three separate incidents occurred in Rudraprayag district where pilgrims suddenly fell ill while returning from Kedarnath Dham.

According to the centre, a pilgrim who suddenly collapsed near Sitapur while returning from Kedarnath was taken by his family to the Primary Health Centre in Guptkashi, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Harivansh Gurudatt Shukla, a resident of Maharashtra.

In another incident, 67-year-old Muddunuri Krishnamurthy Raju, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, died after his health deteriorated near Agastyamuni.

Meanwhile, 50-year-old Gopal Gupta, a resident of Punjab, who collapsed and fell unconscious near Sonprayag, was also declared dead by doctors. PTI DPT SHS
