Farrukhabad (UP), Sep 8 (PTI) A junior engineer of the electricity department allegedly suffered a fracture in his hand after he was assaulted by a house owner and his son during an inspection for power theft in the Fatehgarh area here, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon when a team comprising Junior Engineer Mukhtar Hussain and Sub-Divisional Officer Ajay Kumar reached the house of Subhash Ahirwar near Barsati Garage on Loko Road around 2 pm, police said.
During the inspection, the team allegedly detected power theft and began collecting evidence related to the alleged violation.
Police said that Ahirwar and his son Rajat Kumar confronted Hussain and allegedly started manhandling him.
The duo allegedly pushed the junior engineer to the ground and assaulted him with kicks and punches, causing serious injuries, police said.
Hussain sustained injuries in the assault and a bone in his hand was fractured, according to police.
The injured official subsequently submitted a complaint at the Fatehgarh city police station.
He was taken to Lohia Hospital for a medical examination, following which police registered a case against the father-son duo late Monday night.
Fatehgarh SHO Vijay Singh said the injured junior engineer had undergone a medical examination and a case had been registered on the basis of his complaint.
