Lucknow, May 4 (PTI) With trends of vote counting showing the ruling Trinamool Congress and the DMK trailing in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, respectively, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday took a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, saying people are no longer willing to listen to the Samajwadi Party chief.
In a post on X in Hindi, Maurya said, “People are no longer willing to listen to SP stalwart Akhilesh Yadav. They have pushed his ‘bhaiya’ from Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin, and Bengal’s ‘Didi’ Mamata Banerjee to the margin.
“Everyone witnessed the plight of his ‘bhaiya’ Rahul Gandhi, and Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar, who have been completely routed. The SP should now abandon its dream of seizing power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.” Maurya’s remarks followed after the trends of vote counting put the BJP ahead of the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, and the Stalin-led DMK behind actor Vijay’s TVK and the opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.
“The truth is, under the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, the SP faces nothing but an endless wait,” Maurya said.
With counting of votes underway in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, which went to polls last month, the BJP has taken lead in 185 seats in the 294-member West Bengal Assembly, while the Trinamool is ahead on 91 seats, according to the Election Commission of India.
In Tamil Nadu, debutant TVK has taken a lead on 108 seats in the 234-member House, followed by the AIADMK at 58 and the ruling DMK at 49, poll panel data showed. PTI NAV ARI ARI
