New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured massive victories in West Bengal and Assam, marking a landmark moment for the ruling party in eastern India. For the first time, the BJP crossed the majority mark in Bengal, ending decades of regional rule.
PM Narendra Modi received a warm welcome when he reached the BJP headquarters in Delhi. He addressed supporters wearing a dhoti-panjabi in Bengali style. “This is not just a political victory, it is the people’s mandate for development and trust. Bengal and Assam have chosen a new dawn,” he told the BJP workers and supporters.
“For achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), we need to revive all three pillars of Anga (Bihar), Banga (West Bengal) and Kalinga (Odisha). I am happy all these three states have reposed faith in the BJP to move ahead on the path of development,” he added.
