Lucknow, Oct 30 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh BJP president and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Friday asked party workers to prepare for a third consecutive win in the 2027 Assembly elections and said they have gathered to “sound the bugle of victory” in the electoral battle.

He was addressing the BJP’s state working committee meeting at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Chaudhary said the gathering will lay the foundation for another electoral victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath.

“We have come here to sound the bugle of victory in the great battle of 2027 and take a pledge to form the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for the third time with a massive majority,” he said.

Outlining organisational priorities ahead of the elections, Chaudhary identified five areas requiring particular attention: strengthening booth-level structure; ensuring active participation and communication at every booth; holding regular meetings and reviews at mandal and district levels; continuously expanding the organisation among youth, women, entrepreneurs and first-time voters; and strengthening cadre training.

He also emphasised the need to reach out to all sections of society, including the poor, scheduled castes, backward and extremely backward communities, upper castes, farmers and women.

Framing the 2027 Assembly elections as an ideological contest, the state BJP chief said it is not merely a political contest. “It is a decisive battle between destruction and development, and casteism and nationalism.”

The opposition lacked clear policy, intent and leadership, he said, adding that the BJP’s challenge was to communicate its achievements, policies and ideology effectively to the people.

Referring to a recent controversial remark by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father, Chaudhary said the language reflected the opposition party’s character, and cautioned the BJP workers against using unparliamentary language while responding to political opponents.

“The Samajwadi Party, the Congress and other parties base their politics on negative allegations. But we must not use unparliamentary language like the opposition. Our response should not be defensive but factual,” he said.

Chaudhary said the opposition was trying to create caste divisions in society as the political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh was in the BJP’s favour.

“We have defeated the entire opposition in successive elections in the state. From 2014 to 2024, the BJP secured victories on its own strength,” he said.

Hostile forces are attempting to destabilise the country with foreign funding and by misleading young people, he said, urging party workers to counter the opposition’s negative campaign on social media with constructive responses.

Chaudhary said the party’s objective went beyond acquiring political power.

“Our ultimate goal is not merely to attain power. It is nation-building, the all-round development of society, bringing positive changes in the lives of people at the last rung of the social ladder and taking India to the forefront of the world,” he said.

He also credited the BJP with strengthening the state’s religious and cultural heritage.

The minister recalled the party’s organisational exercise, including the election for presidents of 1,918 mandals across Uttar Pradesh, which began on December 12, 2024, and the subsequent selection of mandal presidents on January 13, 2025. He referred to his own election as the 17th state BJP president on December 14, 2025, during the party’s organisational festival.

Chaudhary said the BJP’s journey was not in pursuit of power but of principles and national reconstruction. It was not merely a political party that contested elections.

Taking a swipe at the previous non-BJP governments, he said Uttar Pradesh before 2017 was known for crime, mafia rule and corruption.

“Over the last 9-10 years, under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has written a new definition of development and law and order,” he said. PTI AR KIS RUK
