Sambhal, Sep 8 (PTI) An Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team on Tuesday inspected a ‘musafirkhana’ (guest house) near the ASI-protected Jama Masjid in Sambhal amid tight security, officials said.
The inspection was carried out following a complaint seeking an inquiry into the structure, Additional District Magistrate Satyapriya Singh said.
“An ASI team came here to examine a complaint and conducted a site inspection. Further action will be taken based on the reports received,” Singh told reporters.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh said a platoon of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and police personnel from several police stations were deployed for security during the inspection.
An ASI team member said the team had inspected only the ‘musafirkhana’.
The complaint was submitted by Kalki Sena national coordinator Subhash Chandra Tyagi, who has alleged that the structure was illegal and sought action against it.
The matter is already under inquiry, with revenue authorities and the ASI examining issues related to the land records and structures in the area, officials said. PTI COR ABN APL
