New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) An unidentified man, aged around 30, allegedly jumped in front of a metro train at Seva Teerth (Udyog Bhawan) station here on Wednesday, resulting in his death and disruption of services for some time, police said.

According to police, the metro controller received information at 11.13 am that a passenger jumped before a moving metro, following which train movement was halted as a precaution.

The man was removed from the tracks and taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, they said.

CCTV footage showed that the man had alighted from a train at the station at 11.08 am and jumped onto the tracks about five minutes later, police said.

The train operator tried to stop the train, but the man was hit before it could halt.

No identity document was recovered from him and police are trying to establish his identity. Initial investigation has not revealed any foul play, police said. PTI BM MDO MDO
