Kutch: Security forces were on high alert in Gujarat’s Kutch district Saturday after three unidentified drones were spotted hovering near the international boundary for the second day in a row.

The Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Air Force stepped up surveillance and response measures as police sources confirmed drone remains were found in Bhuj’s Adipur area.

Local residents and police sources said that drones were seen in the early hours of Saturday, which triggered the immediate deployment of ground and air units.

Although no damage or infiltration was reported, the district administration has asked the people to remain in their homes and not to panic.

“In light of the current situation, the district administration appeals to all residents of Kutch to stay indoors as a precautionary measure. There is no need for anyone to panic. Citizens are especially urged to remain alert at all times for their safety and security,” said a statement by the district administration.

A drone was found early Saturday in Kutch’s Adipur around 8.30 am. Eyewitnesses spotted it flying above the Sindhu Resettlement Corporation (SRC) in Adipur and followed it to the spot where it had landed.

“I saw it while I was having my morning tea. Something was flying in the sky, and there was some smoke visible. We followed it into the jungle,” said an eyewitness.

Just 200 metres from the site is a residential area, where children were playing and women were out buying groceries. The district administration has asked people to stay indoors as a precaution.

The SRC watchman called the police and the superintendent of police also visited the spot. A forensic team arrived and collected some parts of the drone for further investigation.

For the last three days, the area has been witnessing a full blackout from 8 pm to 6 am. Residents have been asked to switch off all lights and avoid unnecessary movement.

Local police and BSF teams have been conducting joint night patrols in at least two dozen villages near the border.

“There is no need to panic, but people must remain alert and cooperate with authorities,” said the district administration.

Firecrackers have been banned across the district to prevent confusion or fear during nighttime operations.

The administration has also asked the border regions to report any unusual flying objects or suspicious activity.

Patrolling has increased and the administration is also on high alert.
