Shimla, Aug 10 (PTI) Baddi police on Monday arrested two people in connection with an attempted shooting attack on a local scrap dealer in the Nalagarh area of Himachal’s Solan district, police said.
Police said the accused were arrested within half an hour of the incident, and recovered two pistols, 15 live rounds and a motorcycle without a number plate.
According to the police, the scrap dealer was outside his shop when two masked youths arrived on a motorcycle, pointed a pistol at him and attempted to fire, but somehow failed to shoot.
Police swung into action after receiving information about the incident and constituted special teams to apprehend the accused.
The police initiated a search using technical evidence and field intelligence. Police teams cornered and apprehended both accused near the Dherowal barrier within half an hour of the incident, when they were trying to flee to Punjab, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Dhiman told PTI.
The arrested have been identified as Jaspreet Singh (31), a resident of Kaithal in Haryana, and Manpreet Singh (20), a resident of Punjab’s Sangrur, he said.
A case of attempt to murder and joint liability of crime under the BNS and the Arms Act was registered against the accused, police said.
