Agartala, Oct 4 (PTI) Tripura’s Public Works Department has initiated an ambitious project to integrate information on current and planned projects across its wings on a single digital platform, an official said.

The Integrated Transport Network Development Plan (ITNDP) is part of the World Bank-funded Tripura Urban Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project.

“Through this plan, a digital portal will be created where information about existing infrastructure, ongoing projects and future projects of different departments will be compiled,” Chief Engineer of PWD’s road and building wing Anup Kumar Das told PTI.

He said the PWD aims to prepare and adopt ITNDP in the next one and a half years, and it will not be limited to roads, bridges, railways, goods transportation and airports. “It also aims to bring communication related to agricultural products, markets and international trade with Bangladesh into an integrated system,” he said.

He said the plan also proposes to identify communication systems required for expanding cross-border trade with Bangladesh.

“In future, the plan is to consider villages, markets, major roads, railways, goods transportation centres and border areas together so that the entire communication system can function in an integrated manner”, he said.

“Around 416.47 km of rural roads and two testing laboratories for rural products and passenger transport centres are also planned. Therefore, it will provide a long-term roadmap showing what type of transport infrastructure will be required in the future”, he said.

Another important aspect of ITNDP is the transportation of agricultural products and goods.

“The plan will identify how agricultural products from different areas can be collected and taken to markets, where transport centres are required, and which routes should be connected with railways or major roads”, he said. PTI PS NSD

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
